-My-Mini-Pet: a handheld pet-nurturing game to engage students in
arithmetic practices: This is a study, but is a super easy read. It takes
the complex study of GBLS and brings it to a very simple level with a
fairly uncomplicated study. (12 pages- attached)

An example of a poor article claiming video games as the cause of youth
violence specifically in the case of the Newtown Connecticut shootings:

2) Vin Diesel on D&D:
Vin Diesel was asked to write the introduction to the 30th edition printing of Dungeons & Dragons. In this interview he describes some of the influence these games had on him.

3) Table-Top RPGs

Controversies surrounding gaming:
Chick Tracts were (are) and evangelical tool used by some conservative groups to promote social change by presenting scenarios that involve a sinning protagonist, their moment of revelation as it pertains to the tract's theme, and finally their redemption. Early RPG books like Dungeons and Dragons, published by TSR, were literally taken from some children and burned as heretical material.

While I personally consider this an extreme example of the arguments that were being made, stories and films reflecting this outlook on gaming were popular enough during the 80's and early 90's to get some level of actual recognition. The stigma against gaming was two-fold. There was a moral argument that damaged the hobby as well as the more common social stigma that TT RPG players still get today.
4) Live-Action RPGs:

5) Article from the International Journal of Role-Playing:
This article breaks down the meta components of role playing games and illustrates the dynamics that take place within these activities. RPGs are much more sophisticated than children playing make-believe (simple role-playing) and like any developed art or hobby, there are deep nuances to be found.
