The primary purpose of this course is to prepare students for their school internship. Approximately one-third of the 100 hour internship is focussed on network support in a K-12 school. As such, the type and variety of assignment in this course is most closely associated with the needs of the Educational Technology Specialists who support teachers who use technology. As such, this course covers the basic telecommunications fundamentals including data, voice, image, and video and the concepts, models, architectures, protocols, standards, and security for the design, implementation, and management of digital networks. Essentials of local area networks (LAN), metropolitan area networks (MAN), and wide area networks (WAN) will be examined.

Scaffolding, Frameworks and Dispositions:

This course will be weaving through numerous criteria in the School of Education Conceptual Framework and ICT Dispositions.
