IT 648 Electronic Performance Support System Project Requirements

1) The Primary purpose is to establish a personal database that will help you classify, store, locate, and replace materials useful in the conduct of performance technology. The intent is to help you to prepare to utilize concepts and ideas from the field of Performance Improvement.

2) The classification scheme that you use for this project is important because you will not enjoy recoding your materials later on when your system becomes confusing or limiting. The simplified Performance Improvement Model should help in your organization

3) Each major category of materials as well as each item within a category must be coded in some way so that you or others can easily replace items when you are finished using them (the idea here is that others should be able to use your system).

4) Each major category (folder) should have a list of the contents so that you can quickly look at the list to idtify forgotten items, note lost items, and inform others of the contents. Each time you code and add items to the file you should also add the item to the list.

5) The individual file lists is used to update your "Table of Contents" for your EPSS.

6) Your file system must include the electronic versions of your documents. Any textbook, significant mediated materials, etc. may be either just identified in your lists or also physically included in your files.

7) Your file system must account for cross-referencing of individual items (items used in more than one category, for example, must cross reference back to each list they appear on).

8) My assessment of your system will reflect my intent. The criteria are:

I. Content-Categorization Scheme

Utility: Easy reference, easy filing- mutually exclusive categories for indexing (most difficult!)

Flexibility: Future revision/addition - easy to add materials without changing the indexig system

Clarity - Communicability for other users - secretaries, assistants, etc...

II. Quality - Comprehensiveness of Subsections

1. Class notes, handouts, personal materials

2. Useful references IE courses, agencies, institutions, people, workshops, professional associations

3. Annotated reviews/bibliography with outline of section/report contents, eg. special annotated list of the five best texts or articles on important topic areas.

4. Additional materials as appropriate/necessary/desirable.
