Brief Description: This story is
about a little boy and his grandmother's trip to the beach. It takes
you from the front door, to the bus ride and the time spent at the
beach. It gives specific events which occur on their outing and one
gets to see the great graphics. At the end, one gets to see the two
on their bus ride home. This is a very cute story. One which
will keep the interest of most students, no matter what the age level.

Rating: (1-5)
Relevance to objectives: 4 (Because I
would make my own objectives this tool is very relevant.
Provides practice of relevant skills:
4 (very relevant for listening and reading skills).
Likely to arouse/maintain interest: 5
(the music and graphics are great, will keep students attention)
Likely to be comprehended clearly:4
(Words are highlighted as the story is being read)
Technical quality (durable, attractive):
4 (very attractive, pictures are wonderful)
Game: Winning dependent on player actions (rather
than chance): n/a
Simulation: Validity of game model (realistic,
accurate depiction): n/a
Evidence of effectiveness (e.g. field-test
results):
No field grade results of this text being used in a Secondary Spanish
classroom.
Clear directions for play: 4 (The directions
for us are right on the screen for the students use).
Effectiveness of debriefing:
Does not allow for feedback because it wasn't designed for that
purpose.
Strong Points:
Some strong points are that one can switch from Spanish to English anytime
in the program. The Play With Me part allows one to have the story
read at your own pace, one where you turn the pages by clicking on the
mouse. The narrator reads at a very good pace. The beginner
can read along because the words are highlighted as they are read.
The story itself is very amusing and the sound effects enhance the graphics.
Weak Points:
I really didn't find any weak points because this book wasn't designed
for a Secondary Spanish class. Maybe in the interactive portion of
the program, there could be a part where on could click on anything in
the picture and get an oral reaponse as to what it is, but like I stated
earlier , this wasn't made for use in a Spanish class.
