Rating: (1-5)
Relevance to objectives: 5 (the child
is playing games while using important developmenta math skills)
Provides practice of relevant skills:
5 (the child has six games to practice counting, memory, and matching skills)
Likely to arouse/maintain interest: 5
(the child has a purpose of winning the games in order to accumaulate tickets.
These tickets are redeemed at the end of play and can be used to purchase
toys at the store)
Likely to be comprehended clearly: 4 (the
child may have some problem understanding if they are too young to read,
parental assistance may be required. There is a help button for each game
that give you understandable directions)
Technical quality (durable, attractive):
4 (the six games were very colorful, I would think that they would have
to be since there are games concerning colors and matching)
Game: Winning dependent on player actions (rather
than chance): 5 (the player has to win by
their actions in order to acculmulate tickets)
Simulation: Validity of game model (realistic,
accurate depiction): 5 (there was a variety
of shapes, colors and patterns, numbers, and letters which were all depicted
actually. The scenery was more cartoon like, but it was reality based.
Evidence of effectiveness (e.g. field-test results):
5
Clear directions for play: 5 (the directions
were clear. At the bottom of each game there was a help button that explained
what to do in that particular game. The directions were understandable)
Effectiveness of debriefing:
5 (Before you pick which game you want to play there is a help button that
describes the objectives for each game with clear instructions)
Strong Points: This
game's strongpoints were that it included six educational activities in
the one game. I think that it gave the player motivation to keep playing
due to it's ticket rewarding system at the end of the game.
Weak Points: The
only weak points of the game that I had a problem with was that some of
the activities weren't fast enough for me. What I have to understand is
that this game focuses on the age groups between 2-7 years.
