Rating: (1-5)
Relevance to objectives: 5 - Very thorough
look at all stages including primaries, debates, family and advisors etc.
Provides practice of relevant skills: 1 - other than viewing pictures
and reading, no skills are taught or practiced
Likely to arouse/maintain interest: 4 - Pictures are excellent and
clearly an "all access pass." Even though it includes some videos of speeches,
it is mostly pictures with no other media. It gets boring.
Likely to be comprehended clearly: 5 - Clear descriptions of pictures
and organized into the steps of the campaign
Technical quality (durable, attractive): 5 - It runs well and the black
and white shots are incredible. Obviously a top photographer.
Game: Winning dependent on player actions (rather than chance): n/a
Simulation: Validity of game model (realistic, accurate depiction):
5- Nothing could be more realistic than a photographer who travels with
a candidate.
Evidence of effectiveness (e.g. field-test results): n/a
Clear directions for play: 5- It is organized into clear menus that
follow the campaign from beginning to end.
Effectiveness of debriefing: 5- At the end of the slide show there
is an excerpt summarizing what the author's feel is the historical significance
of the Clinton campaign.
Strong Points: All pictures are interesting because they are not set
up; photographer was able to become an unseen observer. The whole program
shows what is involved in a campaign.
Weak Points: This would not be ideal for a student with a learning
disability. The authors assume they have an intelligent who know the basics
of a campaign. A teach using this needs to go over the steps of a campaign
in class before use.
